About Us

Security FactoryHaving served as an apprentice locksmith for five years in 1981 Gary Barrs aged 21 founded the company now known as B.E.C Perimeter Security Ltd in 1985. He was granted his first patent on a high security mortise deadlock. This was followed by a number of registered designs for door strengthening products (these have been copied and are sold throughout Europe) by 1989 having won a number of government contracts his company was featured in Harpers and Queen upmarket magazine having been voted by their readers as having the best locksmith service.

About this time Gary was introduced to Douglas Heard, the then home secretary who thanked him for his help in bringing down crime in run down council estates. This involved working with the government to create a scheme called target hardening in which locks and door and frame strengthening products designed and manufactured by Gary Barrs were fitted to thousands of properties.

In 1990, having decided to concentrate on the more physical side of security, the locksmith company was sold and the first factory was opened manufacturing grilles gates and railings. This was quickly followed by the introduction of a service division for the installation of these products, as well as automatic gate operators and access control equipment to compliment the companies manufacturing goods. This marriage of electronics and steel and the ability of B.E.C Perimeter Security Ltd to cope with almost any type of project, has created a cutting edge company unique in the market place.
